An Idler Pipe Stand is a support device used in pipe fabrication, welding, and handling operations. Its main function is to hold, guide, and support pipes during rotation, alignment, or welding without driving (turning) the pipe. Unlike powered pipe rollers or turning rolls, idler stands are free-rolling and do not have a motor; the pipe is rotated using a Pipe Rotator, Welding Positioner, or manually.

Key Features:

1. Free-Rolling Rollers: Allows smooth pipe rotation for welding or inspection.
2. Adjustable Height: Many stands have screw jacks or pin adjustments for proper pipe alignment.
3. Load Capacity: Designed to handle various pipe diameters and weights.
4. Stability: Designed with a tripod structure to prevent tipping.
5. Portability: Usually lightweight or wheeled for shop/field mobility.

Applications:

1. Supporting pipes during welding and fit-up.
2. Acting as a companion stand to powered pipe rollers.
3. Assisting in loading/unloading pipes on fabrication lines.
4. Used in pipe spooling shops and construction sites for safe handling.
